“This is blatant politicking........the independent umpire is currently assessing all of the arguments surrounding the project, and it is important that the RPDC (now the Tasmanian Planning Commission) is allowed to do its job without political pressure and interference,” Mrs Morris said. “Opponents and those seeking to make political mileage out of this should have faith in the independent umpire and the planning process, and not try and undermine it. We’ve played by the rules so why won’t they?” Further, Mrs Morris said candidates did not possess all of the facts to do with the project and none had requested any information from Walker before responding to the survey. She said candidates were given just three days to respond so it was very hastily compiled and the questions were obviously loaded for a particular outcome. “The RPDC heard all of the facts. That’s the correct place for this assessment, not politicised on websites and the media, in the lead-up to local government elections.”
