First Look At Lauderdale Quay Special 3D modelling and graphics on display from today will give the public the first chance to see what the proposed Lauderdale Quay project will look like when built. The public will also get the chance to talk with renowned Tasmanian architect Mark Drury who has been commissioned by Walker to design some houses and commercial buildings for the development in keeping with the seaside environment. The unique development over 95 hectares in Ralphs Bay will be the first fully integrated master-planned development of its size in the State’s history and will open up a new lifestyle opportunity currently not on offer. It will feature a total of 469 lots of which 248 will be waterfront with their own mooring facility. It will also offer the local community 18 hectares of new landscaped and revegetated parklands, nearly 4 kilometres of waterfront and parkland cycleways and walkways, and a 140-berth marina precinct with shopping and restaurants. Besides the visual display, the two-day display will also provide more detail on questions raised at the last public information display in August. “Now that we have done a lot more of the detailed design work and studies we’re in a position to answer those questions,” Walker’s Tasmanian project manager Lia Morris said. “Most of the questions from the general public related to things like how it would look, how it would be constructed, would the canals flush, whether there will be public access, the impact of the wind and climate change and how we would manage traffic,” Mrs Morris said. Walker said public feedback was continually shaping the development’s design and features. “For example, the community said it was important to be able to view Mt Wellington from South Arm Road, so we have designed the project with view corridors clearly a focus.” Walker has also taken into account climate change and sea level rise. Walker plans to release key findings on environmental issues in relation to the project in coming weeks. When all of the work is completed, it will be submitted in the form of a Draft Integrated Impact Statement (IIS) to the Resource Planning and Development Commission (RPDC) for independent assessment. THE DISPLAY IS ON AT THE LAUDERDALE FOOTBALL AND SPORTS CLUBROOMS, DONNA ROAD, LAUDERDALE: Sunday, November 16, from 12 Noon-4pm Monday, November 17, from 11am to 4pm. |
